Origins
Indonesian batik colors come from the wax-resist dyeing of Java and Sumatra: soga brown from tree bark, deep indigo, and the warm white of untreated cotton, later joined by brighter coastal trade dyes.
The system
Colors are grouped into core, festival and craft families, with Indonesian names, Latin transcription and exact HEX, OKLCH and WCAG values.
In practice
A restrained earthy palette for textile, craft, packaging and editorial design built on brown, indigo and cream.
