Origins
Tibetan color tradition begins with the five elemental colors blue, white, red, green and yellow, read as space, water, fire, earth and earth-gold, and visible in prayer flags and the Five Buddha families. Thangka painting adds ground mineral pigments.
The system
Colors are grouped into core, festival and ritual, and craft or mineral families, with native names, Latin transcription and exact HEX, OKLCH and WCAG values.
In practice
A strong source for spiritual, craft and editorial palettes with deep mineral blues, greens, vermilion and gold.
